Exploring along unmarked trails
We start this trip on the way to the Vršič Pass, parking the car at the marked car park at the Cottage on the forest (Koča na gozdu). Then descended a little lower on the asphalted road and found the beginning of a forest track. Here our journey along unmarked paths can begin. The first few steps are still on the marked way leading to the top of Vrišč but soon turn right onto an unmarked but visible path.
The beginning of the path
Here turns right onto an unmarked path
Visoki Mavrinc and Kumlehova glava are exceptional viewpoints. From Mavrinc, you can admire a magnificent view of the Krnice valley, mountains Prisojnik, Razor, Prednje Robičje, Mojstrovke, and Kriška Stena. From Kumlehova glava, which is over 200 meters higher than Mavrinc, you can also see mountains Jalovec, Mangart, Ponce, and Slemenovo Špica. The view even reaches as far as mountain Krn.
The path on both mountains
To the left is the path to Kumlehova glava, to the right to the Visoki Mavrinc
The path to Visoki Mavrinc is suitable for puppies and children, but a little more caution may be needed just below the summit. However, the trail is easy to follow, going up a little, then a little flat, then up again until you finally emerge from the forest onto the open summit, where are a few benches and a cross.
The trail that continues to Kumlehovo glava is a bit more complex, harder to follow here and there, and tends to disintegrate underfoot, so you have to be careful not to slip. The summit of Kumlehova glava is not very well visited, most people only visit Mavrinc, but it’s worth it because the views are incredible.

It will take you just under an hour to get to the top of Mavrinc and two hours to the top of Kumlehova glava. I needed 1 h 45 min at an average pace.

But a safe step, you go to the mountains with your head, and even the easy path should not be underestimated. I share my tips, ideas of what to see and experience with you, but everyone has to take care of safety independently. Therefore, I do not accept responsibility for any injuries and accidents. Everyone knows how much he can do.
Until next time, Bini
